Tangled Tuesday!!!

Hi Everyone!

I'm back this week participating in Amy Minor's Tangled Tuesday between Let's Talk and Major Speech Pathology Fun by a Minor Girl!

I had the great opportunity to review her activity "Find the Clues: Auditory Comprehension Activity." You can find it on her TPT store by clicking HERE. You can find her blog by clicking HERE.

The "Find the Clues" Activity starts off with a title page and directions for the activity. I love that the directions are easy and clear, and let you know exactly how to use the activity!

This activity was created to work on Auditory Comprehension. Each comprehension card comes with a short story followed by a 2-3 questions about the story.

At the beginning of the game, each student is given a "Collection of Clues" card seen here:
Each time the student answers a question correctly, they get a "Clue Card" to go in their collection.

Each student gets two "I need more information" cards. If they are unsure and need to hear the story again, they can use one of the cards. But once they have used their two cards, they do not get anymore second chances.
There are also extra "Go Again" cards the students can use as well.

My students absolutely loved this activity. Any chance they get to play a game while doing their work always goes over well. They loved pretending to be detectives, and several groups even elected to dress the part! I had plastic glasses and magnifying glasses around the room, and they used them as additional props!

I love that this activity can be used with multiple grade levels and abilities. The "Need more info" cards teach the students to ask for help when needed, which is a goal several of my kiddos are working on. In addition, the game can be easily modified depending on your needs, the students' abilities, and time. (When we got short on time and I needed data, we scratched the game and just used the comprehension cards). You can also use the comprehension cards in a Quiz Bowl format (the first one to buzz in or clap gets to answer). My older kids really liked this option!

Overall, this is a wonderful, well-written activity with adorable clipart that would be an asset to your bucket of language materials!

Make sure you head over to Major Speech Pathology Fun by a Minor Girl to see her review of my activity: In the Doghouse Social Scenarios.
